Problem:
You notice your domain which is expired (more than 40 Days) is now having a status changed from expire to Redemption / Restore, and while trying to renew the domain the service provider is generating an invoice for restoration which is higher than the regular renewal period.
Information:
The majority of gTLD's registry (domain providers) have a forty (40) day Grace Period in which you can renew your domain after it expires without any fees. After the forty (40) days, the domain enters a thirty (30) day Redemption Grace Period and can only be renewed by first restoring the domain by paying a redemption fee.
Why are these redemption fees higher?
If you do not renew your domain in the given time or within the Grace Period, it enters the Redemption Grace Period (RGP) which basically means it is now in process of deletion from the registry database. Now when we try to renew the domain manual work is required to bring back the domain into live status, This fee covers the cost of returning the domain to you.
