Write permission for MS Access database and files in windows

Description

You can MS Access 2000 database to store your data in the server. The database has to be uploaded in httpdocs folder. This alone will not suffice as rights has to be given for " writing" data to the database.The following procedure will guide you to give access the database under your Windows customer account.

Required Information

Your website's hosting control panel user name and password.

Procedure

[1] Access your control panel at https://www.yourdomain.com:8443 [ Example :https://www.wpslab.net:8443 ]

The control panel url starts with https:// and not http.


[ ! Notes ]
[a] You must have port 8443 access enabled in your internet connection to access this control panel. Usually it is enabled, but if you are in a network and if your are not able to access this, please contact your network admin and enable this port.

[b] SSL 2.0 and SSL 3.0 should be enabled.

[ * Tips ]
You can enable SSL by the following steps:

Right Click on Internet Explorer.
Click on Properties.
Click on the tab named Advanced.
check the boxes adjacent to Use SSL 2.0 and Use SSL 3.0 under the Security Listings.
Click on Ok.

[c] Internet explorer version should be above 5.0

[d] Cipher Strength should be atleast 56 bits.

[ * Tips ]
You can check Version & cipher strength by the following steps:

Open Your Internet Explorer.
Click on the Tab Help.
Click on About Internet Explorer .

[2] Supply the user name & password .

[ ! Notes ]
The username for the control panel will be your domainname only.
[ For Example:crmcell.com ]

[3] Click on file manager

[4] Click on httpdocs.

[5] Against your database - click on the lock icon.

[6] Click on Plesk IIS User (IUSR_domainname).

[7] On the right side against write check the allow option.

Database name should be tough to guess for security reasons .
Avoid using lengthy database names .
Make sure you upload database in "httpdocs" folder.
You might not be able to access your database if your connectivity is slower.
If your account is suspended due to excess bandwidth usage or server usage, your access will be suspended.

Give the correct user name and password to  login into your control panel.
If you try login with the wrong username or password for more than three times then your control panel access get automatically locked.In such a case try accessing the control panel after some with the correct password.

Log out properly.

If you access your control panel and left it idle for more than half an hour your session will be expired and you will have to login again to access your control panel.

[ * Tips ]
You might not be able to access your control panel if your connectivity is slower.
If you access as https://www.yourdomain.com:8443 it will take minimum upto 48 hrs to reflect from the time registration of the domain to access your Control Panel.
If your user name or password is wrong, you will not be able to access your Control Panel.
If your account is suspended due to excess bandwidth usage or server usage, your access will be suspended.
