Restore Backup to an Alternate Folder with Backup Manager

With WPS Hosting’s Backup Manager, multiple backups are stored on a remote backup server. Instead of submitting a restoration request from AMP to restore data now, you can simply use the Backup Manager plugin in cPanel. In this guide, you can learn how to restore a backup created by WPS Hosting’s Automated Backup Service to another folder.

Restore a Folder/File
Below, are the steps to take to restore a file or folder using the Backup Manager plugin.

Step 1. Log into cPanel.
Step 2. Click on the Backup Manager icon.
Step 3. Click the expand/collapse link Home Directory.
Step 4. Select the desired backup from the Restore From Date drop-down.
Step 5. In the Select Files field, click on the folder icon ( ) to traverse through a directory. Find the folder or file you would like to restore and click on the checkbox to mark it for restore.
Step 6. Select the Restore to a different folder option by clicking on the radio button to the left.
Step 7. Type the name of a folder you would like to restore this backup to.
IMPORTANT: To prevent data loss this directory should NOT exist!
Step 8. Click the Restore button.


Restore a Database
Follow the steps in this section to restore a MySQL (or PgSQL) database using the Backup Manager.

Step 1. Log into cPanel.
Step 2. Click on the Backup Manager icon.
Step 3. Click the expand/collapse link MySQL (or PgSQL).
Step 4. Select the desired backup from the Restore From Date drop-down.
Step 5. Select the desired database from the Database drop-down.
Step 6. Select the Restore to a different folder option by clicking on the radio button to the left.
Step 7. Type the name of a directory you would like to use as the Dump Path.
IMPORTANT: To prevent data loss this directory should NOT exist!
Step 8. Select the option Dump backup to path above.
Step 9. Click the Restore button.
